Stage 9: Europahütte – Zermatt

Stage 9 of the Tour Monte Rosa takes you from the Europahütte down to Zermatt. Along the way, you’ll enjoy impressive views of the Valais Alps and the striking peaks around the Matterhorn. Several viewpoints along the route invite you to pause again and again and take in the spectacular mountain scenery.

What to expect on this stage:

• Panoramic hiking trail with wide views of the surrounding mountains
• Magnificent views at Springelboden with a view of the Zinalrothorn and its glacier
• Rest stop option at Täschalp
• Fantastic view from the hamlet of Tufteren to the Gornergrat, over Zermatt, and to the Matterhorn
• Descent through the larch landscape down to car-free Zermatt

Due to closures on certain sections, we ask all hikers to note the following information:

• Closed trail sections: Springelboden – Eggenstadel section
• Detours from Randa (Springelboden) to Täsch (Eggenstadel): Please follow the hiking trail from Springelboden to Attermenzen. From there, continue to Täsch. In Täsch, take the marked hiking trail towards Täschalp.
